If you had just one day in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, what would you do?
A day in Jaipur, Rajasthan – India
Jaipur is vast and equally beautiful with its old pink city quaint and full of history and heritage and the new city buying and modern.
To explore most corners you certainly need more than a day. but what what you do if you just got 24 hours with the night to spend in Jaipur? Here’s my list.
Pick a best Boutique Hotel
- Jaipur has a huge selection of accommodation from the luxury large properties to quaint boutique hotels. I would certainly recommend for you to go for a heritage boutique hotel, small to medium size as they will give you the best Rajasthani/ Jaipur experience.
- I loved Samode Haveli, it is one of the Samode Properties and one that you will love from the time you step in. Samode Haveli is situated in a quiet corner of the pink city with easy access to all the heritage sites and bazaars. This beautiful boutique Hotel is a heritage property one a home of a aristocratic Family.
- Samode Haveli has all the things a girl loves; inviting pool to little courtyards to luxurious suites to simple bar. The main restaurant serves some the best food in town. Besides the staff are friendly, hospitable and service oriented and ever ready to please you. I was served with a French press coffee to wake me up for an early morning departure at 0400hrs, thats the level of service they go into.
Head to see the heritage sites – The Palace complex
Well you may not be able to see everything in day, however you can see the palace complex with 2 hours. You have to pick as to where you want to spend a lot of time based on your preference. I really like the arts and crafts, so I spent more time looking at the, learning and walking into the museums. It is really your choice.
Heritage sites: Amber Fort
Constructed in red stone and marble, Amber Fort is situated 11km from Jaipur.
Shopping in Jaipur
Jaipur is the place for shopocoholics. I love Anokhi with its all beautiful delicate block printed designs (www.anokhi.com).There are lots of jewelry stores, do go for a good store with good quality or you may just buy the fancy ones off the streets of the bazaar.
Follow the foot paths of a foodie
Jaipur is a great place for a foodie, you have choices from street food down the market bazaar to fine dining. I loved the restaurant at Samode Haveli and the cafe at Anokhi. Samode Haveli serves both Indian and western cuisine. Anokhi is great if you are a bt tired of all the spicy food and looking for some western flavors. Sit back and enjoy, even a day is enough to satisfy your food desires!
A day in Jaipur is certainly not enough, but there are lots of things you can see and do even within a day.
Traveling to Jaipur is easy, there are daily and a number of flights that operate from all over India. It is a 4 hour easy drive from Delhi, making it such a hot spot
